What is your process and timeline?
Breakwhite offers comprehensive consulting, management, research and design solutions for all sizes of custom art integration. The process varies depending on the needs of the project. From a simple discovery call services can range to be as small as a curated packet of local art solutions, up to developing and implementing a project wide art plan.
Breakwhite can facilitate community feedback sessions, temporary art activations prior to construction, manage artist requests for qualifications and proposals, draft and negotiate artist contracts, facilitate fabrication and oversee installation management. No matter the project size, Breakwhite has a hands-on, direct expert approach to customize the art solutions to meet budget and branding.
Our vision is to integrate artwork seamlessly into the architecture, design and landscape to be part of a cohesive brand story and user experience. Full integration discussions typically start while the project is in design development, or early phase of construction in order to save costs in coordinating structural support impacts. However, art solutions can be found at any stage of the project, including retroactively.

What will my project cost?
Every project is 100% unique – there isn’t a one size fits all. Breakwhite has worked within a range of budgets to find impactful art solutions. Experience collaborating with non-profit and low income housing has proven success in bringing big impact to smaller budgets. A general rule of thumb for art budgeting is to allocate 0.5% of the overall construction budget. But even that can vary depending on the goals of the project.
Breakwhite will provide a custom proposal with a range of options, or a not-to-exceed budget based on the project goals. Wherever possible, we advocate for the art to be purchased or commissioned directly with the artist, eliminating any markups. Instead we work similarly to a design firm within project phase scopes.
From ideation to installation, clients can be assured they will be working with a senior level individual who has a wide range of experience to meet the needs of their project.
